UK-Germany Crossborder Taxation

TWO.TAX coordinates UK Self Assessment, German income-tax returns and UK-Germany treaty analysis for British expats. We consider rental income, pensions, ISAs and move-year residence together, rather than treating each return in isolation. The UK and German tax years differ, and a UK tax exemption does not automatically apply in Germany.

TWO.TAX is the crossborder taxation specialist brand of TwoTax Group. Its international team coordinates German and foreign tax returns, income reporting and double-taxation treaty analysis in English. Clients are served remotely throughout Germany. For professional and legal details see the Legal Notice.

For a coordinated review, contact the team with your countries, tax years, income sources and any filing deadline.

Common UK-Germany tax questions

Moving between the United Kingdom and Germany can affect residence, the scope of reporting and treaty relief. UK split-year treatment and German residence rules are not interchangeable. A document-based review can coordinate the relevant UK and German positions for the move year or another defined matter.

Gather move dates, UK and German returns or notices, property income and expense records, pension statements, ISA holdings and any deadline. Consult HMRC's residence guidance and the published UK-Germany tax agreement for official background. A treaty does not itself determine whether you must file. Contact TWO.TAX for a scoped review.
